Analog and Digital Electronics Design

From Analysis to Synthesis

About Me and the Site

Greetings! Allow me to introduce myself: My name is Dave Livingston and I am a Professor Emeritus of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a retired licensed Professional Engineer. I started my professional career at IBM Endicott where I worked on a team designing computers including two models of the IBM PC. After five years at IBM and upon completion of my Ph.D. dissertation, I returned to academia and worked as a professor at Old Dominion University, Virginia Western Community College, and eventually retired from Virginia Military Institute after the last 21 of 39 years of my career.

My teaching and research interests include digital systems, analog and digital electronics interfacing, and the applications of artificial intelligence—in the form of neural networks and fuzzy logic—to diverse topics such as robotics, music, etc.

I created this site to serve as a vessel for tutorials in analog and digital electronics, particularly with attention towards developing synthesis methods given analytical results. I expect readers to have some background in introductory circuits, electronics, and digital logic, but I'll provide background where needed. You can ask questions via email—the address being questions(-at-)drdavelivingston(-dot-)com. I will post answers to significant questions at the end of each topic post. Topics are being developed and presented in a quasi-periodic manner every several weeks. Hopefully, the site will be of use to you.
